Property in Corfu

 Property in Corfu

Property in Corfu and the rest of Greece is proving good  value for money,  prices are rising steadily and are predicted to do so for the foreseeable future. So now is the best time to invest in Corfu Real Estate. There are Corfu houses and land for sale for all budgets, from a brand new build house or apartment to restoration projects and even Greek luxury villas. Corfu Wikepedia

Many first time visitors to Corfu are surprised by this lush Green Island, with its abundance of olive and Cypress trees and a wealth of wild flowers. The Capital Corfu Town with its Venetian Architecture and enchanting narrow streets, mesmerise visitors and locals alike.

The northern part is mountainous, central is hilly, the south fairly levelled and the coast offers a variety of sea views and sandy coves. Corfu boasts a fantastic marina at Gouvia with 100 berths and another marina is planned in Benitses very soon as the island is busy with sailing and yachting enthusiasts. There is also an excellent golf course situated in the Ropa Valley, which is said to be one of the very best in Europe.

Corfu has always been a popular tourist destination and continues to be so with travellers from all over the world. Although predominantly the British make it their home with approximately 11,000 expats currently living there.

It is worth mentioning though that regardless of its popularity, Corfu can still offer the discerning traveller or the potential property investor a traditional Greek lifestyle

Historically, northern Corfu has always been the most popular place to purchase property. The North West has the busiest and liveliest resorts during the summer months, such as Sidari with its 24/7 bar and club culture, due to  this if you are looking for an investment purchase this area can provide a great rental return. Property here sells from 50000 euros for a restoration project or 1 bed apartment.Corfu travel guide

In contrast, the North East coastline winding down from the resort of Nissaki, with its’ breathtaking views, towards Corfu Town, is extremely popular with wealthy expats and holidaying royalty. Understandably, prices of land and property in this region reflect this, with small sea-view villas selling for approx 250,000 euros although large luxury villas will sell for as much as 1 million euros.

In Southern Corfu the property market has been quieter, although it is slowly growing in popularity, so while you may still find a bargain home or investment property here now, I predict this to be an up-and-coming-area, so prices won’t stay low for long!

With beautiful and expensive coastal villas in the area just North of Corfu Town (the Barbati and San Stephanos regions for example), also more affordable renovation and restoration projects inland (such as in the lush mountain village of Afra), and with a limited but growing supply of new build housing and apartment developments to suit all budgets around the coast and central areas, Corfu really can offer something for everyone.
